Athlete & Coach Testimonials

“Rob has helped me with the challenge of adding on muscle mass and my reaching my goal of 100kg bodyweight. He is always pushing me to get more and more weight on my lifts. He is always open and there for a chat on any issues or guidance, or just a friendly chat. But then makes sure you are being a top class performance athlete when it comes to training.”

– Ross McKnight (Scotland U18 Training Squad/Caledonia Academy)
“I have been able to make large improvements over a relatively short period of time with my strength, speed and fitness working with Rob. He is great at giving me an understanding of why he incorporates what he does into my programs which helps me stay motivated to follow them to achieve my specific goals. He has also helped me in my ability to set goals and break them down into a process to make them achievable for me to complete.”

– Max Williamson (Scotland U18 Training Squad/Caledonia Academy)
Rob coached me as part of the borders academy programme. He has a real sense of pride in his work and will always go the extra mile to make sure you get what you need and want. Most coaches have the tools to resolve most situations but when I started having issues with my menstrual cycle, due to Rob’s approachable character, I was able to seek help and get to the bottom of the problem. He supported me with nutrition advice, an eye on ways to adapt training and had a really caring approach to get me to into the best and healthiest place possible. Not only an exceptional coach in the gym and on the pitch he is also a fantastic part of my support network off the pitch who I have continued to seek advice from.”

– Lana Skeldon (Scotland Women’s International)
“Rob is a really approachable coach who takes into consideration the players goals and how to get to them even with set backs and hurdles and finds different ways to tackle the problem instead of ignoring it, shows a genuine interest in a players development.

– Euan Cunningham (Scotland U18 Training Squad/Caledonia Academy)
Great coach who seems to love s&c, has a way of making training tough but enjoyable. Full of knowledge and always keeping up to date with new research. Since working with Rob my power, strength, lean body mass and movement competency have all improved massively and I felt these all transferred really well onto the rugby field. Rob has also helped me massively with my long term knee injury management, spending large amounts of time monitoring and planning my training as well as working to make sure my body was as robust as possible. All of this meant that I improved massively as an athlete under Rob and I would recommend him to anyone.

– Alex Samuel (Scotland U18 International/Caledonia Academy)
“One of the best s&c coaches I’ve ever had. Has a genuine interest in making us better rugby players, but also cares about us as people too. I’ve experienced, and currently still experiencing issues with injury, but without his guidance and reassurance, I wouldn’t be half as close as I am now, to getting back on the pitch.”

– Megan Kennedy (Scotland Women’s International)
I must say that Rob has been fantastic. For myself, I have had a run of pretty serious injuries (broken foot requiring surgery) and then also a ruptured thumb also requiring surgery. On both occasions Rob modified my sessions to allow me to maintain strength and fitness. In particular with my thumb, Rob designed running fitness sessions for me to do. These were hard but varied enough to keep me motivated to do them. This meant that by the end of my rehab and when starting my return to play, I got back into the Scotland Women’s squad a week early and went straight into a starting jersey against Spain this January.

– Siobhan Cattigan (Scotland Women’s International)
“As a coach, Rob has been fantastic at helping me reach my goals. Taking a measured approach, he has helped guide my form and encouraged me to push myself throughout the programme resulting in my achieving of PBs in many lifts. He has also been incredibly understanding for the duration of his time coaching me, helping me through injury recovery and giving me exercises to complete getting me back to full strength. His programmes are well balanced and varied to ensure consistent improvement too.”

– Anya Foxworth-Bowers (Scotland Women’s Development Squad)
“It was an absolute pleasure to work along side Rob, he was good fun but yet a great leader, motivator, he worked hard and got things done. Also as an International level athlete I learnt alot from Rob, the way that he coaches, methods of training the content that he coached I still use in my training today! Would highly recommend!

– Jess Grimson (2018 Commonwealth Games Beach Volleyball Athlete)
“Rob is exactly the trainer you would want, he consistently went the extra mile to provide and research strategies in goal setting, nutrition, hydration, stretching, pre race exercises both mentally and physically and improved swim down protocols. Poole swimming club has produced multi national medalists in the past few seasons. Although it was a great loss when Rob progressed onwards and out of the area, much of the clubs continued conditioning work stems from the philosophies and research learned from Rob.”

– Barry Alldrick (Head Coach Poole Swimming Club, England Programme Coach)
“If you want to go somewhere that gets you in shape, keeps you fit and strong but also gives you vital knowledge about your bodily mechanics and how to keep everything feeling great as well as strong then this is place to go! Great trainer who took me from never having been to the gym, recreational volleyball player and made me in to an international athlete that competes at the highest level! This is where champions are made!”

– Issa Batrane (England Beach Volleyball)
“Before having Rob has my S&C coach I had no motivation to lift weights, mainly because I struggled to lift weights and I knew little about S&C. It wasn’t long before I starting looking forward to S&C, I’d have Rob pushing me every session and be learning something new too. Over the two years with Rob, I don’t think I’d have made it as far in my sport. I remember sustaining a shoulder injury a month before an international competition, wasn’t allowed to play for 2 weeks but Rob worked so hard with me almost everyday that I managed to recover and have one of my best performances yet. Thanks Rob, really owe you one!”

– Nathan Fullerton (England Junior Volleyball)
“The coaching I received from Rob has given me such a solid base for my S+C training; His die-hard work ethic, attention to detail, knowledge and passion for training has helped benefit my overall strength and physical fitness, helping me to achieve and exceed many of my sporting goals, including performing at an International level. A top guy and a great coach-Keep pushing Rob!!”

– Harry Jones (England Junior Volleyball)
“How could I not rate 5 stars. Rob has always pushed me and helped me improve my explosive strength as well as helping me with a lot of injury preventing using all sorts of fun exercises! Hope to catch up soon Rob!”

– Koko Stoimenov (Wessex Volleyball)
“Rob Anderson!- the man that gave me the mental and physical strength in 2 years to go from squatting 20kg to now squatting 120kg. Keep changing people Rob!”

– Sam Reid (Wessex Volleyball)
