Richard Husseiny (Men Behind Sport): Helping those behind the scenes in sport.

For over 16 years,  Richard Husseiny worked as a performance coach in high performance sport, with some of the best organisations and athletes in the world – from Great Britain and China. This included supporting teams in preparation for two Summer Olympic Games – London 2012 and Rio 2016 – and the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. In 2015 he gave end of life care to his mother. This experience changed his life and inspired him to pursue a new career. He now helps performance support staff who are burnt out from improving their athletes at the expense of themselves & constantly having to take on and achieve more to prove their worth because they are worried about losing their job. He helps them move to a place of calm, clarity and freedom to live authentically to their values of balancing their personal needs with the demands of their career, put themselves first and giving their time and energy to the people they love.

In this episode Richard discusses:

  • How he used his roles in sport to support his own self esteem and ego.
  • How the experience caring for his mother provided a space for reflection and change.
  • Why our values are so important for guiding our career choices.
  • The 4 male archetypes and his adaptations to fit the sporting world.
  • His initiative to help those working behind the scenes in sport.
